Worship Service: The Hard Work of Living Our Values

The Hard Work of Living Our Values

Our call is to be true to our values and touch and transform lives. Rev. Mwibutsa will
share on the importance of discovering and even craft who we are and live our values
from a place of faithfulness to ourselves and to our values.

Speaker Bio: Rev. Mwibutsa (Formerly Fulgence) Ndagijimana came to Canada in 2016
after escaping Burundi. Rev. Mwibutsa was serving a Unitarian Congregation in
Bujumbura and in 2015, the congregation got attacked with grenades and bullets, a
month later, he was kidnapped, tortured, and jailed and was only lucky to be released
after a strong pressure on the government by Unitarian Universalists around the world.

When he left Burundi, many of the congregation members fled Burundi as well and they
all gathered in Rwanda. Rev. Mwibutsa stayed in Rwanda for 3 months gathering
emergency support for the refugees.

While in Canada, he continued to gather support for refugees who have now grown
from the initial church members and friends of the church to many other refugees. To
facilitate the work in Rwanda, a Canadian charity was set up “Flaming Chalice
International” and this charity supports education and small business projects as well as
emergency situations. Flaming Chalice International is also 501(c)3 in USA
(www.Flaminginternational.org). He sees his ministry as that of providing hope when
hope is hard to find.

Rev. Mwibutsa also serves “La Communauté Sans Frontières Unitarienne
Universaliste”, which is a global online Community en Français.

Speaker: Rev. Mwibutsa Ndagijimana
